How do I get a stairclimber?

Depending on your circumstances you may be able to source one through your local Social Services. We do sell direct to the public, subject to a free no obligation assessment of the user, operator and property/stairway to verify suitability and specification. Please call 01978 821875 or fill in the form @ www.aatgb.com/s-max to arrange a free no obligation assessment.

How does a stairclimber differ from a stairlift?

A stairclimber is free-standing and completely portable. Its use is not confined to the stairway. It is not fixed to the building structure in any way. A stairlift is secured to the wall or stairs and can only be used within the scope of its transfer rail.

How much is a stairclimber?

It depends on the specification, accessories etc. Please call 01978 821875 or fill in the form @ www.aatgb.com/s-max to arrange a free no obligation assessment

Is a stairclimber safe?

With appropriate training of the operator/care giver, it is completely safe. AAT is the UK’s #1 suppler, with an impeccable safety record spanning 20+ years.

is there a size limit on a stairclimber’s use or passenger?

A stairclimber can be adjusted to suit both the operator and passenger for optimal comfort and safety in use. The standard version can accommodate small children through to adults up to 135kg. Versions are available for larger passengers. Almost any suitably trained person can operate a stairclimber.

What happens if my loved one has a seizure when I’m moving them in the stairclimber?

No problem!

Should the child or adult seated on the Sella have a seizure on the stairway, just the push of a button by the carer will stop the Sella motion. The transfer process is instantly paused, safely, until the episode has passed.

For further safety, if felt appropriate, the carer can simply tilt the Sella back and rest it against the stairs. The automatic braking system will hold the Sella securely. The carer does not have to support the weight of their loved one and the stairclimber during the seizure. In this way, safety for all involved is assured and the situation kept as calm as possible.

What is a stairclimber?

A stairclimber is a portable battery powered device that ascends, descends steps and stairs to safely transfer someone with reduced mobility between levels and beyond. It can have an integral seat or be fixed to a wheelchair.

Where can I use a stairclimber?

Inside and out! Our stairclimbers can handle most common staircase designs inside and can traverse many steps you'll find outside. Being portable, they're not fixed to the staircase, so 1 stairclimber can be used from top to bottom in a townhouse, and/or take you outside if you have steps to or in the garden, driveway, street (NB subject to assessment by one of our trained professionals). And they can be used away from home too!

Who can use a stairclimber?

A stairclimber is proven to be a safe way to move the majority of people with reduced mobility up, down stairs. This includes infants with complex needs, people with musculoskeletal issues, arthritis, amputations, dementia/Alzheimers, Cerebral Palsy, brain injury etc.
