The Universal Back is a modular system which we can tailor to suit each individual user.
Starting with the main panel….
There are 4 height and two width options which will cover users from small children right up to adults. This panel simply replaces the standard back cushion on the S-Max Sella. It has a 50mm height adjustability within each size, for growing room.
We can also fit spacers behind it to enable us to adjust the seat depth so we can ensure achievement of a good seating position.
We can then add a headrest panel, either flat or curved. The flat option even allows us to fit our Stabilo vacuum mouldable headrest cushions.
Next we can add a pair of thoracic supports with options for different sizes. We even have swing away versions to facilitate easier access when hoisting into the chair. The rear panel has a multitude of mounting holes to enable us to fit these supports wherever they are needed.
We can also add a pair of longer thigh supports at the base to keep users’ legs in a good position and prevent them from splaying outside of the seat, improving posture and reducing the risk of entrapment in confined spaces such as doorways.
The panel comes with fixing points for harnessing and we can fit any standard chest harness to suit.
The AAT back system is proving very popular and effective for passengers who need significant support when sitting and is often used with other accessories, custom made to fit the stairclimbers. Accessories such as padded foot supports that can also accommodate fixation such as ankle huggers, padded lap belts that prevent users sliding forwards in the seat and even vacuum mouldable cushions to accommodate body asymmetry. With such and extensive range of options, it’s now possible to seat nearly everybody who needs to use a stairclimber.
An added benefit of the modular approach is the ease of recycling and upgrading, as a child outgrows their original back system, just the panel section can be replaced, re-using all of the additional supports like the headrest and laterals which helps to keep costs down, especially if the unit is being recycled for a different user.
