The support group has given a newly patented emergency lifting chair to the hospital at Gobowen. Funds raised by The League of Friends have been used to purchase a “Raizer” chair designed to transfer a patient from the floor to a sitting or standing position. Linda Head, moving and handling co-ordinator at the specialist hospital said the chair had already been used successfully throughout the hospital.

"It provides dignity for a wide range of users, from those who may need to be lowered to the floor for example for physiotherapy, as well as lifting others back up.

“The chair can be easily and quickly assembled which helps reduce everyone’s anxiety whilst comfortably supporting the patient.”

Victoria Sugden, Charity Director of The League of Friends said: “We are really grateful to our members and fundraisers who have allowed us to make this donation."

The state-of- the-art chair is quickly assembled around the patient by just one member of the hospital team who can then use it to effortlessly lift them to safety.
